Amber is a CrossFit LVL 2 Trainer, Precision Nutrition Nutrition Coach, Level 1, and a Former Certified BIRTHFIT Coach. She was a Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy for 10 years before being medically retired for Fibromyalgia. One fun fact about her: she is a self-proclaimed craft beer snob.
Her favorite WOD is the OPEN WOD 16.4/17.4, in which you complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 13 minutes of:
- 55 deadlifts, 225 lb.
- 55 wall-ball shots, 20-lb. ball to 10-ft. target
- 55-calorie row
- 55 handstand push-ups
This WOD is her favorite because it has everything, “heavy-ish barbell, gymnastics and cardio.”
Amber’s favorite movement is the overhead squat. She says, “Along with the snatch, it is one of the most complex movements requiring total body awareness and flexibility of every joint from ankles to shoulders. When I am coaching beginners I like to say that the majority of CrossFit is Functional Movement. The Overhead Squat isn’t necessarily functional, but it is pretty darn FUN!!!”
