September Member Spotlight~ Jaime Jones

Hey everyone! Meet Jaime! She is one of our awesome members that has been with us for almost a full year. She is an incredibly kind person, with a fantastic work ethic, and drive to be the fittest she can be. She is friendly, coachable, and encouraging of others when she is in class. I could go on about how great she is but, here is a little more about her and why she does CrossFit.

1. Why did you start CrossFit?

As I approached 39 and 1/2, I decided that I wanted to do something proactive to mark my “entrance” into the fabulous 40’s.  I was tired of feeling tired and was ready to fight some of the “loose skin” I had been noticing for a few years.   I wanted to do something new and challenging.  CrossFit seemed to fit this desire.

2. What is your favorite thing about CFD?

I love the community!  Doing challenging WODs together creates a team atmosphere that is fun, inspiring and full of friendly competition.

3. What do you do for a living?

I am married to an incredible man and we have 4 kids.  I am full time chauffeur, chef, cheerleader, and chief calendar holder for the whole dang crew.
4. What are some goals you have for yourself related to your health and fitness?

I’m a very goal oriented person.  Short term, I’m working to conquer double unders and be able string together 10+ toes to bar.  Medium term would be getting a bar muscle up.  Long term, I would love to get my Level 1 CF certification. (Yes, I love CF that much!)

5. What is your favorite cheat meal?

Hot Wings with blue cheese dressing.  And a cider.

6. What is your favorite CrossFit movement and why?

I don’t have a favorite movement.  My favorite type of workout is a good ole partner WOD.  The grittier, the better.  I love working with others towards a common goal, and pushing each other to give your all.  I work harder and am willing to do more when I’m working with a teammate.

7. What would you tell somebody just starting out or thinking about starting CrossFit?

You CAN do this!  Just show up and be consistent.  Come with an open mind, ready to learn and you’ll be amazed at what you are able to do.  You might even surprise yourself.  Give yourself 3 months of trying before you decide whether CrossFit is for you.  The hype is real- it really can change your life.  It did for me, starting at 39 and 1/2.
