October Member Spotlight~ Brandon Downs

October Member Spotlight~ Brandon Downs

Brandon has been with at CrossFit Dunwoody since January of 2018 and is one of the ‘rocks’ in the 5:30am class (Brandon has attended 302 classes since he started at CFD and 297 have been at the 5:30am!). Brandon was selected as our Member Spotlight for October because he is a shining example of the power of consistency. He has continued to improve his health and fitness by dedicating himself to consistent attendance and hard work. Well done Brandon! Keep up the great work!

Here is a little bit more about Brandon and why he does CrossFit:

1. Why did you start CrossFit?

I started Crossfit because I was out of shape and I wanted to add some sort of fitness routine back in my life.  I didn’t know much about Crossfit but just showed up one morning at 5:30am and have not stopped since.

2. What is your favorite thing about CFD?

The people by far (shout out to the 5:30am crew and coaches). Having fun, nice, encouraging people to share a class with makes it easy to get out of bed and go.

3. What do you do for a living?

I am a Principal at Oakbridge Partners which is a mid-sized, independent wealth management firm.

4. What are some goals you have for yourself related to your health and fitness?

My primary goal is to continue to stay in shape both physically and mentally. Crossfit helps with this tremendously. I have never tried, but I would like to be able to do a bar muscle up at some point too.

5. What is your favorite cheat meal?

Ice cream cookie sandwiches or pretty much any Reese’s product.

6. What is your favorite CrossFit movement and why?

Double Unders…kidding. Probably box jumps because they require balance, explosiveness, strength and speed especially when cycling through a set.

7. What would you tell somebody just starting out or thinking about starting CrossFit?

You can start exactly where you are at now and progress at your own pace.  The classes are a nice blend of group work (stretching, warm up to start and end classes) and being in your own zone during the workout.
